Overview
Adding a user to an authorization group means that user can access initiatives which have the authorization traits defined in the group.
Accessing Authorization Groups
To access the Authorization Groups page, click on the Authorization Groups button under the Users section of the left-hand navigation bar.
Authorization Groups List Page
The Authorization Groups List page consists of:
Name - The name given to the authorization group.

Edit Pencil - Click to edit the relevant existing group.
Copy Pages - Creates a copy of the existing group.
Delete (red circle)- Delete the existing group from the system.
AD Group Assignment
Stratex has the functionality to allow for the assignment of an AD group into User Authorization. This means users can be assigned broader access rights (beyond direct workflow participation rights) and means that Auth Group setups will be streamlined through an automated initial setup.
Maintaining Authorization Group
Authorization Groups are used to provide access to initiatives. By default, initiatives are restricted to Persons Responsible, Area Managers and Sponsors and other process participants derived through workflow. The key attributes of Authorization Groups are:
Company Code(s)
Plant(s)
Cost Center(s)
Investment Type(s)
Investment Reason(s)
Area(s) Benefiting
Area(s) Sponsoring
An initiative that meets all the corresponding criteria of an Authorization Group will be accessible by individuals assigned that Authorization Group.
For example, an Authorization Group may be defined as follows:
Name: IT Sustenance - Germany
Company Code(s): Germany
Plant(s): All
Cost Center(s): All
Investment Type(s): Information Technology
Investment Reason(s): Sustenance
If this Authorization group was assigned to Mary, she would be able to access all German Information Technology initiatives for Sustenance of operations, even if she wasn’t a direct participant in the workflow process.
To Add a New Authorization Group, click the Add button.
To Remove an existing Authorization Group, click the delete icon.
To Edit an existing Authorization Group, click the name of an authorization group or the blue edit icon next to it.
Note that Managers and Sponsor will automatically have access to all initiatives assigned to their Area or responsibility or subordinate areas, and do not normally require the assignment of Authorization Groups.
If an initiative is marked as Confidential, these Authorization Groups do not apply and access is limited to assigned participants only.
The initiatives plants/cost centers are based on the benefiting area of the initiative.
