Perform an Action for an existing Idea.
Once an investment Idea has been created by the Responsible Person, the assigned area manager in the configured Workflow will be notified to action the idea for advancement through to the Proposal stage.
Key Concepts
Actioning an Idea in Stratex is the initial step where a concept or opportunity is formally captured, assessed, and prepared for potential development into a proposal or business case.
Ideas serve as a lightweight way to capture innovative opportunities or improvement suggestions before detailed analysis is required.
Ideas are evaluated based on criteria such as strategic fit, potential benefits, risks, and urgency. This evaluation helps prioritize which Ideas warrant further investigation or development.
Once an Idea is reviewed and approved, it can be escalated to a Proposal or Business Case stage, where detailed planning, financial analysis, and stakeholder alignment take place.
If an Idea is not approved, it may be deferred, archived, or revisited later based on changing business priorities or new information.
Instructions
Access the Initiative. This can be done in 3 ways: Email Link, The Worklist, or All Initiatives. All methods of accessing the initiative will bring the user directly to the initiative details.
An email will be sent to the user responsible indicating an action is needed. Access the initiative via the link in the email
Initiatives requiring action from the user will appear on the Dashboard under ‘Worklist’. Select the initiative link.
Use the sidebar menu to Navigate to the ‘All Initiatives’ view. Use filters and sorting to identify the initiative needing to be actioned. Click the initiative title to access the initiative.
Review the initiative details
The summary page will provide the details entered by the Responsible Person, as well as an audit log to show any previous actions taken.
From within the dropdown menu of the green action button, select an action to perform
Available Actions will depend on the initiative’s workflow stage
Return is the option to use when returning an idea to the responsible person for edits or changes. A return action will require resubmission.
Reject is the option to use when outright rejecting an idea. A rejection will cause the initiative to be removed from the workflow, it is only rejected when an idea is not needed anymore.
Reinstate is the option to use when a idea has been rejected. Reinstating the idea will return the initiative to the responsible person and require submission for manager review again
Approve is the option to use when an idea can be transitioned to the proposal stage.
Only administrators can reinstate a rejected initiative.
The information required for an Idea is minimal but designed to provide enough context to assess its relevance, potential value, and alignment with strategic objectives.
